Inaugural Minion 5k

Inaugural Minion 5k (5-11-19)

This Saturday Inaugural running Universal Minion 5k event and overall, my experience was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed it immensely. For this race, I bought the VIP package, which was $135, and I bought the special discounted Universal Studios ticket for runner and their family at $94 each.

Friday, May 10 at 1:50pm my mom and I went to Jurassic Park Parking structure to packet pick up we didn’t find any signs leading the way but eventually found it after we grabbed out packets we saw a few signs. For Packet pickup, we were given a drawstring minion running universal bag that had our running shirt, water bottle, and info about the event. There was some running merch available but none that specified it was a minion event it all said running universal on it. I did notice walking out of the packet pick up area down City Walk that the event merch was available to purchase for everyone which was a bit of a bummer because I think it should be exclusive to the participants until after the event is completely over.

Race day morning was exciting because the corrals were first come first serve. My mom and I arrived at about 5:30 and were the second wave of people to cross the Start Line. The course was excellent, I loved the experience of running in the backlot we were so up close and personal with the sets, and everyone was so friendly. My suggestion is to make sure you train on hills because Universal Studios Hollywood does have hills on their course, which was to be expected if you have ever visited the park.

After the crossing the finish line and getting our medal, we picked up our food box and a banana, and walked over to our VIP breakfast at Margaritaville which was amazing we got to meet Tim the minion for a one on one meet and ate some yummy food. My experience overall was amazing, I loved the course, I loved the corrals, I loved the entire experience, even the hill that we had to run up. Since my experience was a lot of fun, I signed up for the Jurassic World 5k in November, and I am very excited.
